CommentThese are summaries of the Services of Service of Madras Civil Servants entering the Service from 1740 to 1858. Evidently, several of them continued to serve beyond this date.

The data are transcribed from the book compiled by Charles Prinsep published by Truebner & Co in 1885.

Summary of Service  1840: Writer. 1841: Assistant to the Principal Collector and Magistrate, Canara. 1842: Acting Register to the Zillah Court of Canara; afterwards Assistant to the Collector and Magistrate, Chingleput. 1845: Assistant, afterwards Acting Head Assistant to the Collector and Magistrate, Chingleput. 1846: Acting Head Assistant to the Collector and Magistrate, Masulipatam; afterwards Head Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, Trichinopoly. 1847: On furlough to Europe. 1850: Returned to Madras; Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, Nellore; and Acting Head Assistant of the District; Proceeded to Europe. 1851: With employ on return. 1852: Acting Sub-Judge, Combaconum. 1853: Head Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, afterwards Acting Sub-Collector and joint Magistrate then Sub-Collector and Joint Magistrate, Tanjore. 1858: Collector and Magistrate, Tanjore. 1862: On medical leave for 15 months. 1865: Collector and Magistrate, South Canara. 1867: Acting Civil and Sessions Judge, Cuddapah; afterwards at Trichinopoly. 1870: Acting Collector and Magistrate, Trichinpoly; Civil and Sessions Judge, Tellicherry, continuing to Act as before; Acting Collector and Magistrate and Political Agent at Tanjore. 1872: Civil and Sessions Judge, Nellore, but continuing to Act as before at Tanjore; also Civil and Sessions Judge, Madura, continuing to Act at Tanjore. 1873: Retired from service, 31st March. (Annuitant on the Fund.)
