Entry  Born at Bombay, Sep. 10, 1818 : son of David Malcolm, and nephew of Sir John (q.v.) : entered the E. I. Co.'s Bombay Native Army, 1836 : in the Bombay Division of the Army of the Indus in the Afghan war, 1838-9 : at Ghazni and Kabul : in the Sind Irregular Horse in Beluchistan, 1840-1, and in E. Cutchi, 1844-5 : with the Sind Horse in the Panjab campaign, 1848-9, at Multan, Gujarat the occupation of Peshawar : in the Persian war, 1857, commanding S. Mahratta Horse : and against Shorapur, 1858 : commanded in the operations against the Chief of Nargoond, 1858 : C.B. : commanded a Division in Abyssinia, 1867-8 : K.C.B. : General, 1877. and G.C.B., 1886 : died April 6, 1897.
