Body of text  JOHN NELSON, born 29th March 1915 at Glasgow, son of John Nelson and Mary Fairlie Muir; educated at Glasgow Victoria Public School 1920-7, Strathbungo Higher Grade School 1927-30, Queen's Park Secondary School 1930-3, University of Glasgow 1933-9, MA (1936), BD (Distinction in Systematic Theology and Islam 1939); student assistant Glasgow Langside Hill 1938-9; licensed by Presbytery of Glasgow 12th April 1939; locum tenens Glasgow King's Park 1939-40; service with Church of Scotland Huts and Canteens 1940-1; ordained by same Presbytery as Chaplain to the Forces 9th December 1941; demobilised August 1946; appointed missionary in Punjab July 1947; inducted to parish of Western Assam (Tea Planters' Chaplaincy) 23rd April 1952. Married 30th December 1947, Anne Askew, MA (Edinburgh), born 29th February 1924, daughter of Rev T C Gibson, late of Swatow and Singapore, now Haltwhistle English Presbyterian Church, and has issue, John Campbell, born 2nd October 1948 in Gujerat; Thomas Campbell, born 15th October 1950 in Gujerat; Mary Phyllis, born 15th August 1954 in Shillong, Assam. Publication � article on 'Predestination. A Study of Luther's Bondage of the Will', Scottish Journal of Theology, VI, 3rd September 1953.
