CommentIndex of names from 'A Hand Book to St Mary's Church, Fort St. George, Madras', written by the Rev. Charles Herbert Malden, Canon of St George's Cathedral, Madras and Garrison Chaplain, 1893-4 and 1901-6. The transcription is of The Old Tombstones | Outside St Mary's Church. The other memorials recorded in the book are of those inside the church.

The book contains a useful checklist (as at 1905) of the church's registers from 1680.

The book is in the library of the East India Club in St James's Square, London SW1Y 4LH.

Inscription  Here lieth interr'd the body of JOHN MAUBERT, Diamond merchant, aged about 37 years and departed this life the 15th of October 1721. He liv'd in Madras about eleven years with a perfect reputation and design'd to England had he liv'd till January 1721-2.
