CommentIndex of names from 'A Hand Book to St Mary's Church, Fort St. George, Madras', written by the Rev. Charles Herbert Malden, Canon of St George's Cathedral, Madras and Garrison Chaplain, 1893-4 and 1901-6. The transcription is of The Old Tombstones | Outside St Mary's Church. The other memorials recorded in the book are of those inside the church.

The book contains a useful checklist (as at 1905) of the church's registers from 1680.

The book is in the library of the East India Club in St James's Square, London SW1Y 4LH.

Inscription  Here lyes interr'd ye body of THOMAS ROBSON, Surg'n, who after having serv'd ye Honb'le Compy. as Chief Surgeon of this place upward of 11 years, departed ys life May ye 6th 1720 aged 37 years. Also ye body of CHRISTOPHER, son of Thos and Diana Robson, born September ye 6th 1718, dy'd October ye 29th 1719    
Comment by Rev. Charles Herbert Malden  Thomas Robson was the chief Surgeon in Madras at the time of his death. Christopher was his little son aged 1 year.
