Body of text  HERON, JOHN, born Edinburgh, 13th January 1862, son of James H and Elizabeth Kerr; educated at George Watson's School and University of Edinburgh; MA (1881), BD (1885); licensed by Presbytery of Edinburgh 17th June 1884; assistant at Cadzow that year, Falkirk 1885; ordained (assistant) at Falkirk 8th March 1888; appointed to Ruthrieston, Aberdeen, November same year; appointed to Indian chaplaincy (Madras) 30th March 1893; Presidency senior chaplain in 1906; retired 17th March 1918. Married 1st July 1903. Helen Begg Yuill (born 8th July 1873), daughter of Duncan Cameron McVean, minister of Strontian, and has issue - Margaret Cameron McVean, born 29th March 1904.
