Body of text  WILLIAM THOMSON, born Kilmarnock, 24th August, 1869, son of William T and Jessie Ritchie M'Kie; educated at Kilmarnock Academy and University of Glasgow; Luke Fellow, MA (1889), Findlater Scholar, BD (1893); licensed by Presbytery of Glasgow 7th June, 1893; assistant at Glasgow University and Queen Margaret College to Professor of English Literature, 1893-4; at Park Church, Glasgow, April 1894 to December 1896; ordained for India Chaplaincy 10th January, 1897; appointed here temporarily in 1920; retired October 1921, and became Naval Chaplain, Portsmouth. Married 12 January, 1897, Jessie, daughter of John and Jean Hill Tennent.
