From the time of joining his Regiment, held Command of the Light Company in the Field on all occasions. Medal. Served during the Sutlej Campaign, 45, 46. In 53, commanded the Kotah Contingent and the Troops ordered from Nusseerabad, to support him in the reduction of the Fort of Kurowlee, in Kurowlee Territory. The Fort was evacuated by the rebels. Received the approbation of the Governor-General on this occasion. Commanded the Kotah Contingent on the outbreak of the Mutinies, and employed some weeks against the rebels in the Agra and Muttra Districts. Served in the Fort at Agra, Present at the attack on the Fort of Abwal, in Rajpootana, under Brigadier General Lawrence, and accompanied Field Forces from Neemuch in civil capacity, in pursuit of Feroze Shah, Tantia Topee, &c. |
