Havelocks Column at Cawnpore on the 6th August 57, after escaping from Banda, through Central India, to Benares. Served under him in Medical Charge of Olpherts Horse Battery of Bengal Artillery, in his operations on both banks of the Ganges, at the action of " Mungawar, " the " Alum Bagh, " and the "penetration to the Lucknow Garrison," on the 25th September 57; under Major-General Sir James Outram, in the defence of Lucknow, until the final relief and evacuation of the Garrison by the General Commanding-in-Chief, in November 57; under General Outram in his various operations during the three months and half he held the Alum Bagh, including surprise at Guilee. And still holding the same Medical Charge, was present at the siege and capture of Lucknow by Lord Clyde, in March 58, under Major-General Sir H. Grant. In Medical Charge of the 1st Sikh Irregular Cavalry, in his operations in Oude, from the 10th April to 13th August 58. Medal and 2 Clasps. |
