CommentThese are summaries of the Services of Service of Madras Civil Servants entering the Service from 1740 to 1858. Evidently, several of them continued to serve beyond this date.

The data are transcribed from the book compiled by Charles Prinsep published by Truebner & Co in 1885.

Summary of Service  1858: Writer and Student at the College. 1859: Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, Salem. 1860: Acting Head Assistant to Salem. 1862: Head Assistant to Salem. 1864: Acting Sub-Collector and Joint Magistrate, Madras, afterwards at North Arcot. 1865: On furlough to Europe for 16 months. 1866: Acting Sub-Collector, North Arcot; also Head Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, Kurnool. 1867: Acting Sub-Collector, South Arcot; Sub-Collector, Tinnevelly; Sub-Collector and Joint Magistrate, South Arcot. 1868: Sub-Collector and Joint Magistrate,Tanjore. 1870: Acting Collecor and Magistrate, Tanjore; On furlough to Europe for 18 months. 1871: Retired from service, 15th November.
