CommentThese are summaries of the Services of Service of Madras Civil Servants entering the Service from 1740 to 1858. Evidently, several of them continued to serve beyond this date.

The data are transcribed from the book compiled by Charles Prinsep published by Truebner & Co in 1885.

Summary of Service  1840: Writer. 1841: Assistant to the Collector and Magistrate , Bellary; afterwards at Rajahmundry. 1842: In the same capacity at Masulipatam. 1843: Acting Assistant to the Collector and Magistrate, and Agent to the Governor at Fort St. George, in Ganjam. 1845: Acting Principal Assistant to the Collector and Magistrate, and Agent to the Governor, in Ganjam. 1854: Sub-Collector and Joint Magistrate, Masulipatam. 1855: Acting Collecor and Magistrate, Masulipatam. 1857: On medical leave to Europe for 15 months. 1859: Acting Collector and Magistrate, Cuddapah; afterwards Sub-Collector and Joint Magistrate, Kistna. 1860: Collector and Magistrate, Soluth Canara. 1861: On medical leave for 3 months. 1862: Acting Collector and Magistrate, North Arcot. 1863: Collector and Magistrate, Trichinopoly, but to continue to act as before. 1864: On special leave for 6 months. 1869: Collector and Magistrate, Godavari. 1871: On furlough to Europe for 2 years. 1873: Retired from service, 1st August. (Anniutant on the Fund.)
