CommentThese are summaries of the Services of Service of Madras Civil Servants entering the Service from 1740 to 1858. Evidently, several of them continued to serve beyond this date.

The data are transcribed from the book compiled by Charles Prinsep published by Truebner & Co in 1885.

Summary of Service  1850: Writer and Student at the College. 1853: Assistant to the Collector and Magistrate, Nellore. 1854: Acting Head Assistant, Nellore. 1855: Acting Head Assistant to the Register to the Court of Sudder and Doujdaarry Adawlut. 1856: Acting Assistant Judge, Combaconum; Head Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, Nellore; Acting Sub-Secretary to the Revenue Board. 1858: Acting Additional Sub-Collector, Bellary; afterwards Acting Deputy Collector of Sea Customs, Madras. 1859: Deputy Secretary to the Government in Chief-Secretary's Departments, and Secretary to the Board of Examiners. 1861: On furlough for 3 years and 8 months. 1865: Acting Civil and Sessions Judge, Nunydal; Sub-Collector and Joint Magistrate, Bellary. 1866: Judge of the Small Cause Court, Madura; and Civil and Sessions Judgem Nunydal. 1869: On furlough to Europe for 12 months. 1871: Acting Civil and Sessions Judge, Bellary. 1872: On special leave to Europe for 6 months. 1873: Resumed Acting Civil and Sessions Judge, Bellary. 1874: District and Sessions Judge, Coimbatore, continuing to Act as before mentioned. 1875: Acting Judge of the High Court of Judicature, Madras. 1877: District and Sessions Judge, Bellary. 1878: Again Acting Judge of the High Court, Madras. 1880: On furlough to Europe for 12 months. 1881: Additional Member of the Government General's Legislative Council. 1882: Retired from service, 4th April. (Anniutant on the Fund.)
