CommentThese are summaries of the Services of Service of Madras Civil Servants entering the Service from 1740 to 1858. Evidently, several of them continued to serve beyond this date.

The data are transcribed from the book compiled by Charles Prinsep published by Truebner & Co in 1885.

Summary of Service  1845: Writer. 1846: Assistant to the Collector and Magistrate, Nellore. 1847: Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, Malabar. 1851: Acting Head Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, Malabar. 1855: Acting Sub-Judge, Calicut; afterwards Sub-Collector and Joint Magistrate, Malabar. 1856: Acting Deputy Collector of Sea Customs, Madras; Proceeded to Europe on furlough. 1857: Resumed Acting Deputy Collectorship of Sea Customs, Madras; afterwards Additional Sub-Collector and Joint Magistrate , Bellary. 1858: Sub-Collector and Joint Magistrate , Bellary. 1859: On furlough to Europe for the unexpired portion of his leave granted in 1856. 1861: Permitted extension of 2 months and 6 days on account of time occupied on his passage and and from India; Officiating Collector of Sea Customs, Madras, afterwards Member of Central Committee at Madras for the London Exhibition of 1862; also Commissioner for the Assessment of Income Tax; and Sub-Judge, Calicut. 1862: Acting Civil and Sessions Judge, Chittoor; Judge of the Small Cause Court, Cuddalore. 1863: Acting Civil and Sessions Judge, Nundyal; Civil and Sessions Judge, Vizagapatam. 1866: Judge fo the High Court of Judicature, Madras. 1871: Retired from service, 30th July. (Annuitant on the Fund.)
