CommentThese are summaries of the Services of Service of Madras Civil Servants entering the Service from 1740 to 1858. Evidently, several of them continued to serve beyond this date.

The data are transcribed from the book compiled by Charles Prinsep published by Truebner & Co in 1885.

Summary of Service  1844: Writer. 1846: Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, South Arcot. 1847: Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, Tinnevelly. 1849: Assistant to Collector and Magistrate , Nellore; afterwards at Tinnevelly. 1851: Acting Head Assistant, afterwards Head Assistant, to Collector and Magistrate, Tinnevelly. 1855: Acting Sub-Judge, Madura. 1855: On furlough to Europe. 1857: Resumed Acting Sub-Judge at Madura. 1858: Sub-Collector and Joint Magistrate , Malabar. 1859: On furlough to Europe for the unexpired portion of his leave obtained in 1855; Granted 12 months' extension on medical certificate in 1859 and 1861. 1861: Returned to Madras, 25th October. 1862: Acting Sub-Collector and Joint Magistrate, afterwards Sub-Collector , South Arcot; Acting Civil and Sessions Judge, afterwards Civil Judge, Guntoor; Civil and Sessions Judge, Cuddapah. 1865: Civil and Sessions Judge, Tinnevelly. 1867: On medical leave for 4 months. 1869: On furlough to Europe for 12 months. 1871: Retired from service, 22nd July. (Annuitant on the Fund.) 1873: Died, 1st October, in England.
