	Entry	Son of the first Sir Francis Workman Macnaghten (some time Judge of the Supreme Court at Madras, and at Calcutta), and brother of Sir W. H. Macnaghten (q.v.) : educated at Rugby : went to India, and held legal appointments in the Supreme Court at Calcutta : one of the last survivors of the old body of E. I. Co.'s Directors : for many years a Director : Chairman, 1855 : after the transfer of India to the Crown, was chosen by the E. I. Co. one of the original Members of Council, Sep. 21, 1858 : Vice-President, 1866 : died Dec. 24, 1888.
