Entry  Born 1832 at Glen Urquhart Inverness : joined the United Free Church Mission in Calcutta in 1861 and was engaged there in Missionary work for 41 years a prominent figure in religious and missionary life. While he constantly conducted Evangelical services, he laboured chiefly as an educational Missionary and was an indefatigable writer editing Periodicals Journals such as the Indian Evangelical Review, publishing studies of the Hindu sacred books, etc. He was a prominent Fellow of the Calcutta University : died July 30, 1903
