Service  Lieutenant Birkett served with the 3rd Europeans throughout the Mutinies, with the Agra Column to Allyghur from August to October 1857, with Colonel Cotton's Column towards Delhi in October 1857, and the Agra Column towards Gwalior June 1858, and some minor operations. Present at the action of Sussea near Agra, 5th July 1857; at the action near Maun Singh's Garden, Allyghur, on the 24th August 1857; at the battle of Agra on the 11th October 1857; and at the affair at Futtehpore Seekree in 1857. Slightly wounded, 5th July 1857. Medal.
