CommentIndex of names from 'A Hand Book to St Mary's Church, Fort St. George, Madras', written by the Rev. Charles Herbert Malden, Canon of St George's Cathedral, Madras and Garrison Chaplain, 1893-4 and 1901-6. The transcription is of The Old Tombstones | Outside St Mary's Church. The other memorials recorded in the book are of those inside the church.

The book contains a useful checklist (as at 1905) of the church's registers from 1680.

The book is in the library of the East India Club in St James's Square, London SW1Y 4LH.

Description of Gravestone  Inscription in Tamil.    
Inscription  Thaniappa Mudaliar, otherwise know as Lazarus Timothy, of the Agambadi Mudali (Vellala) caste who was a Founder (?) of the French East India Company in Pondicherry, died on the 21st day of Chittrai of Promodhuta corresponding to the current year 1691 A.D. He lies interred in St Andrew's Church Chennapatam (Madras).
