CommentIndex of names from 'A Hand Book to St Mary's Church, Fort St. George, Madras', written by the Rev. Charles Herbert Malden, Canon of St George's Cathedral, Madras and Garrison Chaplain, 1893-4 and 1901-6. The transcription is of The Old Tombstones | Outside St Mary's Church. The other memorials recorded in the book are of those inside the church.

The book contains a useful checklist (as at 1905) of the church's registers from 1680.

The book is in the library of the East India Club in St James's Square, London SW1Y 4LH.

Inscription  Here lyeth interred the body of DOROTHY LUCAS, who departed this life the eight day of Aprill Anno 1685, and near unto this place lyeth also four of her children, viz., Catherine and Elizabeth, which she bare to her former husband, Charles Proby; and Anne and Thomas, the only children she bare to her last husband, Thomas Lucas.     
Comment by Rev. Charles Herbert Malden  Dorothy Lucas was the sister of George Torriano. Twice married, first to Charles Proby, secondly to Thomas Lucas.
