Entry  Born June 18, 1836 : son of Colonel Charles Robert Hogg : educated at Leamington College and Wimbledon : joined the Bombay Army, 1854 : became Maj-General, 1890 : Lt-General, 1893 : served in the Persian campaign, 1857 : the Indian mutiny, 1858-9 : China war, 1860: Abyssinian war, 1867-8 : Brevet-Major : Afghan war, 1878-9 : Brevet-Colonel Q.M.G. of the Bombay Army, 1880-5 : Political Resident at Aden, and had command of a 2nd Class District, 1885-90 : C.B., 1886.
