In 1891 he was chaplain to the Seaforth Highlanders in the Huzara Expedition (medal); died at Dollar, 16th April 1927. He was an enthusiastic naturalist. He married 1880, Mary Drysdale, daughter of Andrew Spittal and Mary Turcan, and had issue - Mary Turcan, born 7th May 1881 ; Janet Ann Gibson, born 6th October 1882 (married Hugh Clarke McColl, minister of Kilbirnie); Isabella Drysdale, born 21st August 1886.
