Body of text  MARWICK, WILLIAM, born Edinburgh, 2nd October 1863, son of William M, SSC, and Margaret Corsar ; educated at Arbroath High School, University of Edinburgh, and UP Theological Hall; licensed by UP Presbytery of Arbroath September 1887; assistant at Lossiemouth UP Church 1887-8, at Ward Congregational Chapel, Dundee, October 1890-1 [ordained assistant there 11th December 1890]; missionary of UP Church, Old Calabar, West Africa, 1892-1900; missionary of UF Church, St Andrew's, Falmouth, Jamaica, 1901-11; acting Colonial chaplain, Church of Scotland, Meerut, India, October 1914 to 31st March 1916, and returned to Edinburgh. Founded the Ruskin Reading Guild in 1887. Married 5th December 1893, Elizabeth Jane Hutton, missionary, Old Calabar, and has issue - William Hutton, MA, born 16th October 1894; Margaret Isabella Hutton, born 11th May 1896 (married HA Bignold, BSc, Alberta, Canada); George Hall, born 31st December 1899 ; James David, banker, born 6th July 1901; Gertrude Mary, born 12th August 1903, died 19th August 1904; Mabel Elizabeth Corsar, Ministry of Labour, Edinburgh, born 6th June 1905. Publications - William and Louisa Anderson of Jamaica and Old Calabar (Edinburgh, 1897); Editor of Ruskin Reading Guild Journal and of Saint Andrew (Church of Scotland, India), 1914-15.
