Body of text  McLELLAN, DUNCAN TAIT HUTCHISON, born Brechin, 29th November 1893, youngest son of Robert M, Garnock House, Brechin, and Janet Roy Crawford; educated at Brechin High School and University of Aberdeen, MA (1916); mobilised as Territorial 4th August 1914; served as private 4th Gordon Highlanders, France, February to September 1915; wounded 2nd June and 25th September 1915; 2nd lieutenant 5th Seaforth Highlanders 25th January 1917; lieutenant 2nd Battalion King's African Rifles March 1917, East Africa March 1917 to June 1918; discharged through wounds March 1919; returned to university to complete divinity course; licensed by Presbytery of Brechin 29th June 1920; ordained (by Presbytery of Brechin) 18th July 1920; Professor of History, Scottish Churches' College, Calcutta; appointed to Indian chaplaincy 11th February 1922; civil chaplain at Poona 11th February to 7th March that year; junior chaplain at St Andrew's Church, Bombay, 7th March same year. Married 11th December 1923, Mary, younger daughter of Ernest Howard, Alexandria.
