Body of text  HENDERSON, JAMES, born Monquhitter, 9th March 1852, son of James H; educated at University of Aberdeen; MA (1874); licensed by Presbytery of Turriff 1876; assistant at New Kilpatrick, 1876-8; ordained (by Presbytery of Dunbarton) to Indian chaplaincy at Bengal (under Colonial Committee) in 1878; appointed junior chaplain on Bombay Ecclesiastical Establishment 27th February 1882 ; senior chaplain 1892; Presidency senior chaplain 1899; retired 3rd April 1905; was afterwards chaplain RN and CF at Gosport; died 5th October 1925. He served in the Egyptian campaign of 1882, and was at the Battle of Tel-el-Kebir (medal with clasp and Star). He married 18th August 1891, Marion Hay (born 2nd July 1861), daughter of Alexander Mitchell, DD, minister of North Parish, Dunfermline, and had issue - Marion Chalmers, born 28th September 1892 (married 28th June 1917); James Mitchell, born 19th August 1894; Alexander Mitchell, born 19th October 1896.
