Body of text  JOHN MACARA, born Partick, Glasgow, 17th February 1870, son of Thomas Macara, educated at Glasgow University, MA (1890), BD (1892), licensed by Presbytery of Glasgow in 1892, assistant at Dalmarnock, Glasgow, May to October 1892, ordained by Presbytery of Edinburgh 16th October 1892 missionary of the Scottish Universities Mission, Sikkim, India (1892-1902), assistant at Park Parish, Glasgow, 1903-6, admitted here 13th September 1906. Married 23rd November 1901, Jean Gordon, second daughter of WC Gordon Barckley, and has issue, Thomas Gordon, born 26th September 1908.
