Body of text  JAMES BLACK, born Elgin, 8th November, 1870, younger son of James B, LL.D, of Sheriffston, Lord Provost of Elgin; educated at University of Alberdeen; MA (1891); English Master, Madras College, St Andrew's 1892-7; assistant at St. George's, Edinburgh; ordained 5th January, 1905; resigned 6th February, 1912, on appointment to Scottish Church, Simla; OBE 1919. Married 5th July, 1905, Roberta Cecilia (died sp 6th January, 1909), daughter of Robert Cecil Williamson, Moray Place, Edinburgh.
