Body of text  ROBERT FRANCIS COLVIN, born 30th November, 1827, youngest son of Robert C, DD minister of Johnstone in Annandale; educated at University of Glasgow ; ordained to Johnstone 19th March, 1852; resigned 2nd October, 1854; chaplain at Bombay, 1854-8; admitted to Kirkpatrick Juxta 13th October, 1865; resigned 26th October, 1876; resident of Edinburgh without a charge, 1876-84; admitted to this parish 5th September, 1884; resigned 6th January, 1887; died in Edinburgh, 5th January, 1888. He married 16th September, 1859, Helen (died 26th September, 1873), second daughter of James Brown, CA, Edinburgh, and Ann M'Kerrell and had issue - Alice Mary, born 23rd August, 1860; Annie Edith, sometime missionary of the Free Church at Calcutta, born 18th December, 1862; Robert Francis, born 23rd June, 1864, died 22nd May, 1902; Constance Helen, born 29th July 1865, died unmarried 25th August, 1884; Marion, born 4th November, 1867 (married 15th April, 1891, Colonel Charles Robert Dyer, Middlesex Regiment); William, born 14th November,1868, died 12th May, 1899.
