He married 4th April 1848, Elizabeth Grace (died 14th June 1876) daughter of Richard Hewat, farmer, Bassendean, and had issue - John, surgeon, RN, born 15th Feb 1849, died at Bombay, 2nd March 1892; Andrews, born 12th Feb 1851; Hyndmer Eleanor, born 22nd APril 1854; George Richard, born 11th May 1860.
