Co.'s service : was a cook and pyrotechnist : employed by Begam Samru : in 1794 by De Boigne : under Perron in 1800, in Sindia's service : fought against George Thomas (q.v.) : and was defeated by him at Georgeghar : later, made Thomas surrender at Hansi : captured Rohtak, 1803 : after the defeat of Colonel Pedron by Lake at Alighar, Bourguien revolted against Perron : the latter surrendered to the British, and Bourguien, as General, held command of Sindia's troops for a fortnight, until he himself was defeated by Lake at the battle of Delhi, Sep. 11, 1803 : three days afterwards he surrendered to Lake : was sent to Calcutta : returned to France, with great wealth, and was heard of no more. Feb. 1811, their opinion that Boles would not have been justified in refusing to obey General Macdowall's order. Boles' suspension was continued to Oct. 1811, when he was restored to the service. |
