Bourdillon: educated at Ramsgate and Haileybury : joined the Civil Service at Madras in 1828 : was Secretary to the Board of Revenue and Secretary to Government in the Revenue and P.W.D. : advocated irrigation and the improvement of communications : was an authority on land revenue and the despatch of public business : retired in 1861 : died May 21, 1883.
