The deceased after his retirement from the Navy was long connected with the commercial house of Bruce Cumming and Co which became Bruce Allan and Co and eventually Bruce Shand and Co. Subsequently to the failure of this house he again in connexion with his old partner re-established himself in the existing firm of Bruce Shand Stewart and Co.
