Inscription  To the Memory of Sir John Clavering, Knight of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath, Leiut.-Genl. In his Britannic Majesty's Service; and Colonel of the 52d Regiment of Foot. Second in the Supreme Council of Fort William in Bengal, and Commander-0in-Chief of all the Company's forces in India. Died August 30th, 1777, in the 55th year of his age, and was interred here.
