Detail  In the parish of St. Clement's Danes, where he was born, John Mortimer, esq. Captain in the Royal Navy, of Barnstaple, Devon, son of the late Thomas Mortimer, esq. author of several well known, useful, and approved publications. The deceased was taken out of the East India Company's service, and placed in the Navy by the late Mr. Hans Mortimer, M.P. for Shaftesbury, and made his first entré with Sir J. Colpoys in 1774... [left a widow and family, pages 573-574].
