Detail  Lately, in the East Indies, Lieut. John Eyre, of the 36th regiment. During the war in India he distinguished himself as a valiant and deserving officer, particularly in the action before Bangalore. When Col. Moorhouse and Cap. Delany were killed, the command devolved upon him, and he was the first man who entered the Pettah-gate, when he received a severe wound on the head from one of Tippoo's horse-soldiers. His loss is sincerely regretted by the army, and by his friends in both countries.
