Service  Major Renny served with the Army of the Sutlej in 45, 46: present in the actions of Moodkee, Ferozeshuhur, Buddiwal, and Sobraon. (Twice severely wounded.) Medal and 3 Clasps. Commanded the 3rd Sikh Infantry in the expedition against the Bozdar Tribes of Beloochees, in March 57, under Brigadier Chamberlain, on the 25th March 59, when the rebels in the Nepal Terai were attacked and defeated by a Force under Sir R. Kelly. Brought to the favorable notice of the Commander-in-Chief, 21st April 59. Medal. Commanded the Left Column of attack on the rebel position in the Nepal Hills, 28th March 59, and received the thanks of the Governor-General and the Commander-in-Chief. Commanded a Field Column on the 27th April 59, when he attacked and defeated a large body of rebels in the Gonda District, in Oude, and received the thanks of the Governor-General and the approval of the Commander-in-Chief, 21st May 59; on the 1st June 59, attacked and defeated a body of rebels on the Nepal Frontier, when his conduct met with the approval of the Governor-General, 1st July 59. Engaged in several minor affairs on the Goruckpore and Oude Frontiers, up to the end of 59, and final dispersion of rebels in the Nepal Frontier. Favorably mentioned in the Despatches of Brigadier Holdich, and received the thanks of the Home Government, from Sir C. Wood, 14th September 60.
