Present at the battle of Sobraon. Medal. Commanded 5th Native Troop, 1st Brigade Horse Artillery, when that Troop fired on the mutinous Cavalry and Infantry at Jullunder, 7th June 57. Served throughout the siege of Delhi, from 23rd June. Commanded No. 4 Siege Battery on the 14th September, heavy Mortar Batteries (manned by the Troop) in the Cashmere Bastion, on the 14th and 15th September, and in the Magazine, from its capture on the 16th, to the capture of the Palace, 20th September 57. Victoria Cross, Medal and Clasp, and Brevet-Majority. Commanded the same Troop in Rohilcund, in 58, and in Sir E. Walpoles action at Lisseya, near Philibheet, 15th January 59, when the conduct of the Troop was declared by Lord Clyde to be " beyond all praise." |
