Service  Captain Maxwell served in Burmah, 52, 53. Present at the storm and re-capture of Pegu, 21st November 52, Medal; also served as Deputy Assistant Quarter-Master-General to the Martaban Column under General Steel, on its advance to Tonghoo. Present as Adjutant of his Regiment in the operations in Trans-Goomtee, under Sir J. Outram, terminating in the final assault and capture of Lucknow under the personal Command of the Right Honorable Lord Clyde, Commander-in-Chief, Medal and Clasp; and subsequent operations in Oude, acting as Staff Officer to the Column at Durriabad, accompanying the same into action with the rebels on different occasions, when the rebels were totally defeated and their guns captured.
