Service  Surgeon Maxwell served in Medical Charge of the 46tli Native Infantry throughout the Punjab Campaign, 48, 49. Present at the actions of Ramnuggur, Sadoolapore, Chillianwallah, and Goojerat. Medal and 2 Clasps. In Medical Charge of the 2nd Punjab Cavalry, in various Field Services, on the Derajat Frontier, from 50 to 57. Served in 57 against revolted Hill Tribes, in Eusuffzaie. Served in 58 at siege and capture of Lucknow. Medal and Clasp. Served in the Campaign in Rohilcund, including the battle of Bareilly, assault of the Fort of Rooya, actions at Allygunge, Mohunpore (wounded slightly), and Pliilibeet, and on several minor occasions. Services mentioned in the Despatch of the Officer Commanding Force at the action of Philibeet, 27th October 58. Medal and Clasp.
