Hare served in the Volunteer Cavalry with Major General Sir Henry Havelocks Force during the Campaign in 57, including the actions of Futtehpore, Aong, Pandoo Nuddee, Cawnpore, Oonao, Busseerutgunge, Barby-ka-Chowkie, and Bithoor. Served with the Force under Lord Clyde, at the relief of Lucknow, in November 57; the defeat of the Gwalior Contingent at Cawnpore, December 57; the subsequent Campaign to Futtehghur, and throughout the siege of Lucknow, in March 58. Served in the Military Mounted Police with the Force under Major-General Sir Hope Grant, at the action of Nawabgunge, June 58. Medal and 1 Clasp.
