Service  Captain Dickson served in the Sutlej Campaign, 45, 46. Present at the battles of Sobraon and Ferozeshuhur. Medal and Clasp. Served as Commandant of all leave men of the Punjab Force in the expedition against Shaik Mohamed Deen, 46. Volunteered and served with the 66th Goorkhas, from 24th July to 8th October 57. Volunteered as Cavalry Trooper from the 66th Goorkhas to Nynee Tal Militia Cavalry. Was present at the action of Hulwanee. Volunteered from Nynee Tal Militia Cavalry to Infantry for the protection of Nynee Tal. Volunteered from Nynee Tal to join his Regiment, and assumed Command of the Force then keeping the Ghauts of Hurdwar, Myapore, and Kunkul. Volunteered his services to Brigadier Jones, Commanding Field Force. Served throughout the Rohilcund Campaign, including the skirmish and capture of Nuggeejabad, Nageersa, re-occupation of Bareilly, Moradabad, relief of Shahjehanpore, skirmish and re-capture of Mohumdee. Medal, Served with Brigadier Holdwichs Nepal Frontier Field Force during the whole of the operations on the Nepal Frontier, 58, commanding a Wing of the Mynpooree Levy.
