Service  Assistant-Surgeon DeRenzy served with the 2nd and 3rd Company of the 5th Battalion Bengal Artillery throughout the War in Burmah, in 52, 53, 54, and was present in the actions at Martaban, Rangoon, and Prome. Medal and Clasp. Present when the 15th Native Infantry treacherously fired on their Officers, 28th May 1857. Volunteered to return to Cantonments at Nusseerabad that day in search of Captain Fenwick of the 30th Native Infantry, who was reported missing. Escaped alone afterwards to Beawur. Served throughout the siege of Lucknow in March 58. Medal and Clasp. (Passed Examination in Burmese.)
