CommentIndex of names from 'A Hand Book to St Mary's Church, Fort St. George, Madras', written by the Rev. Charles Herbert Malden, Canon of St George's Cathedral, Madras and Garrison Chaplain, 1893-4 and 1901-6. The transcription is of The Old Tombstones | Outside St Mary's Church. The other memorials recorded in the book are of those inside the church.

The book contains a useful checklist (as at 1905) of the church's registers from 1680.

The book is in the library of the East India Club in St James's Square, London SW1Y 4LH.

Inscription  Here lyeth interr'd Mr ROBT. WRIGHTE, Merchant, third son of Sir Nathaniel WRIGHTE, Knt, some time Lord Keeper of the great seal to His late Majesty William the Third and to her present Majesty Anne, Queen of Great Britain etc., who departed this life the 16th day of October 1709.    
Comment by Rev. Charles Herbert Malden  Sir Nathaniel Wrighte keeper of the great seal under William III and Anne, was Junior Counsel for the Crown at the trial of the seven bishops.
