CommentIndex of names from 'A Hand Book to St Mary's Church, Fort St. George, Madras', written by the Rev. Charles Herbert Malden, Canon of St George's Cathedral, Madras and Garrison Chaplain, 1893-4 and 1901-6. The transcription is of The Old Tombstones | Outside St Mary's Church. The other memorials recorded in the book are of those inside the church.

The book contains a useful checklist (as at 1905) of the church's registers from 1680.

The book is in the library of the East India Club in St James's Square, London SW1Y 4LH.

Inscription  [Here lies interred the body of FRANCES WRIGHTE wife of Thomas Wrighte Merchant] and some time third [of coun]cil in this place [whpde]parted this life [the 7th] of February 1703-4. [Also] one infant daughter [name]d Frances who [was b]orn May 8th 1700, [and] died August ye 22nd in ye same year.     
Comment by Rev. Charles Herbert Malden  This stone is also a fragment. Her husband was a brother of Robert Wrighte.
