Comment	Index of names from 'A Hand Book to St Mary's Church, Fort St. George, Madras', written by the Rev. Charles Herbert Malden, Canon of St George's Cathedral, Madras and Garrison Chaplain, 1893-4 and 1901-6. The transcription is of The Old Tombstones \| Outside St Mary's Church. The other memorials recorded in the book are of those inside the church. The book contains a useful checklist (as at 1905) of the church's registers from 1680. The book is in the library of the East India Club in St James's Square, London SW1Y 4LH.

	Inscription	Here lyeth interr'd the body of Anne, wife to Francis Seaton, Capt of the grenadiers of ye garrison, who having brought into ye world a daughter named Frances did herself in 9 days after depart of it, viz., on the 16th May 1691, to the great regret of her surviving husband for the loss of so deserving a wife. With her lie also interr'd two of her children, a son and a daughter, viz., Elihu and Frances, who deceased 3rd May 1691 and 7th May 1692.
	Comment by Rev. Charles Herbert Malden	This is the first wife of the notorious Capt. Francis Seaton, who was suspended by Governor Thomas Pitt in 1704, and who in revenge started the story of the diamond, whoch led to Pitt's recall. Elihu Yale was godfather to the Infant Elihu mentioned here.
