A long course of useful official labours had established his reputation for indefatigable zeal, and the simplest and puest integrity, whilst his private life was an unbroken series of benevolent sacrifices for the welfare of his family and connections, and of the indigent and unfortunate in general. He was drowned in crossing the river opposite this city, on the evening of the 28th March 1818, aged 52 years. |
