Detail  [Pages 199-200. The only surviving son of the Rev. Thomas Truebody Thomason, Fellow of Queen's College, Cambridge, who went to India in 1808 and became a Senior Chaplain of the EIC in 1829 (see Gent. Mag. XCIX i. 647). His Life was afterwards published by the Rev. J. Sargent. In 1814 his son James was sent home. In 1822, after Haileybury College, he returned to India in the civil service of the EIC. His wife's ill health caused him to return to England ""without waiting for the needful leave"". His appointment was kept open for him. Successful governor. Founded a college for engineers. Was appointed Governor of Madras, but did not live to take it up]
