Detail  [Of cholera, at a village between Kolapore and Belgaum. Entered the Company's service in 1804. Held several civil posts, spent much time at Poonah. Appointed Resident in the Persian Gulf in 1842, but he resigned it ""in consequence of the treatment which he received at the hands of Lord Ellenborough"". In Aug. 1843 he came to the Bombay presidency to visit Poonah before returning to Europe. Said to be after Elphinstone ""the most popular man amongst the natives of the Deccan""]
