Detail  [Pages 97-98. In Baker-street, Portman-sq., aged 85. A native of Somerset, went to Bengal in 1770. Linguist. Remained in India until 1786. In 1800 librarian for the EIC. Examiner for the colleages at Haileybury and at Addiscombe. Helped found the Asiatic Society. Twice married, his second wife died 30 Dec last. One of his three daughters is married to William Marsden, author of books such as History of Sumatra]
