CommentThese are summaries of the Services of Service of Madras Civil Servants entering the Service from 1740 to 1858. Evidently, several of them continued to serve beyond this date.

The data are transcribed from the book compiled by Charles Prinsep published by Truebner & Co in 1885.

Summary of Service  1842: Writer. 1844: Assistant to the Principal Collector and Magistrate, Coimbatore; Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, Rajahmundry. 1845: Acting Head Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, Rajahmundry, and at Cuddapah. 1846: In the same capacity at Masulipatam. 1847: Head Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, Masulipatam. 1852: Head Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, Guntoor. 1853: On furlough to Europe. 1856: Acting Principal Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, and Agent to the Governor of Fort St. George, Ganjam. 1857: Principal Assistant, and Agent to the Governor, Ganjam. 1859: Acting Collector and Magistrate, and Agent to the Governor, in Vizagapatam; afterwards Acting Collector and Magistrate, Kurnool. 1860: Acting Civil and Sessions Judge, Masulipatam; Acting Collector and Magistrate, Kistna. 1862: On medical leave for 15 months. 1865: Acting Collector and Magistrate, and Agent to Governor, Ganjam. 1867: Acting Collector and Magistrate, Madras District. 1868: On Special Duty. 1869: Acting Third Member of the Revenue Board. 1870: Acting Second Member, afterwards Third Member of the Revenue Board. 1873: First Member of the Revenue Board. 1877: Made a C.S.I. 1st January. 1878: Retired from service, 7th April, in India. (Annuitant on the Fund.)
