CommentThese are summaries of the Services of Service of Madras Civil Servants entering the Service from 1740 to 1858. Evidently, several of them continued to serve beyond this date.

The data are transcribed from the book compiled by Charles Prinsep published by Truebner & Co in 1885.

Summary of Service  1845: Writer. 1847: Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, South Arcot. 1851: Acting Head Assistant to the Collector and Magistrate, Nellore. 1853: Acting Assistant to Accountant-General, Madras. 1854: Head Assistant to Collector and Magistrate, Trichinopoly; afterwards at Chingelput. 1855: Acting Sub-Collector and Joint Magistrate, Madura. 1856: Additional Sub-Collector and Joint Magistrate, North Arcot; Proceeded to Europe on medical certificate for 27 months. 1861: Officiating Civil and Sessions Judge, Chingelput; Acting Sub-Collector, South Arcot. 1862: Sub-Collector, South Arcot; On furlough for 3 years. 1865: Retired from service, 27th January. (Invalid Annuitant.)
